Cromartie High School is a manga turned anime that’s in my favorite genre: random. You know, like Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Sexy Commando, and Gag Manga Biyori? I got the whole series during that ADV sale, so I figured I should watch some of it.
Year: 2007
So Japanese people sure do love their princesses. There’s Princess Resurrection, Real Fake Princess, Scrapped Princess, Princess Princess… So to keep up with them all, here’s my review of Murder Princess, Volume 1!
Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo is one of my all time favorite anime. I watch, I laugh. It’s really that simple. I even bought the manga version in order to get my Bobobo fix. I recall seeing it on Cartoon Network for a while, but that wouldn’t do, since I wanted to watch it in Japanese. Finally, Illumitoon released the Bobobo DVD with Japanese subtitles*, so here’s my review!

Continuing with the anime downloading theme from yesterday’s Death Note announcement, it looks like the first episode of Ah! My Goddess (well, the second season) is available at IGN. I haven’t seen the first season (I watched the OVA like 10 years ago), so this episode probably won’t make sense to me. It’s only streaming, which is kind of sad. Oh, and I remember watching some mini-goddess, too. That series was pretty funny, as I recall.
Oh, and speaking of free, tomorrow is Cinco De Mayo. Err… free comic book day! This should probably include some kind of manga as well. I missed it last year, and I have a feeling I will also miss it this year. Because who can be bothered to shop in physical locations when you have amazon.com?
More Death Note Anime Download News
So there’s more details about the Death Note legal abune download thing I wrote about a while back. Apparently Viz will be using Direct2Drive to sell episodes of Death Note. They’ll be subtitled, and you can start downloading them on May 10th.
I hadn’t heard about this Direct2Drive thing before so I checked it out. Apparently they have a bunch of live action shows like 24 and Arrested Development. All episodes are $1.99, so we can probably assume Death Note will be as well. This fits with the price that Funimation anime is going for on iTunes.
It still seems to me that iTunes would be the way to go though, what with the huge user base. Either way, it seems like good news to me. It also reminds me: I should really continue that Legal Anime Downloading service review series that I had started with ADV…
Nodame Cantabile Volume 2 introduces two new cliche characters: the gay timpani player and the perverted master conductor. Did I write “cliche?” I meant weird.
Spring 2007 Anime Director Epidemic!
So I haven’t really been watching Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann, but apparently there was some kind of scandal that occurred due to the “unique” directing of the fourth episode, including the resignation of show’s producer.
Then, Kyoto Animation decided to switch directors on the Lucky Star anime, apparently due to lackluster humor? To be fair, the second and third episodes were chuckle inducing, but only for a few parts. The show is still no Azumanga, or even a Gaijin 4-koma, for that matter.
Then, Hinano dropped the bomb on a potentially earth shattering story! The characters in episode 4 of Kami-chama Karin look weird! Like, Steve Sutton weird!
Perhaps the Japanese superstition about the number 4 has a basis in reality. Or in this case, episode 4… Quick, someone get Animation Runner Kuromi on the job!
I just got a shipment from Yesasia of random stuff. It consisted of Disgaea PSP, and this random manga I bought called “Penguin Musume.” It’s in Japanese, so it’ll take me a while to read it. I did get through a couple of pages, so here are my first impressions.
