Fall 2006 Anime Preview: Part 5

There’s seriously a lot of fall anime, huh? Part 5 of my Fall 2006 Anime Preview includes Sumomomo Momomo, 009-1, Mamoru-kun ni Megami no Shukufuku wo! and Asatte no Houkou.

Sumomomo Momomo: Chijou Saikyo no Yume

Sumomomo Momomo Chijou Saikyo no Yume.jpg
Sumomomo Momomo reminds me of Bobobobo Bobobo, which was really awesome. I don’t think there’s a correlation between the two though, besides the naming scheme.

The story involves two kids of rival martial artists being involved in an arranged marriage. The offspring of such a marriage should produce an awesome martial artist! The girl, Momoko, totally wants the baby like, RIGHT NOW, but the guy, Koushi, does not. I think this anime sort of turns into a harem too. The art and story seem decent, so I’ll check this one out with medium interest.

Fall 2006 Anime Preview: Part 4

In part 4 of my never ending Fall 2006 Anime Preview, I go over Red Garden, Negima!?, Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na, and Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto.

Red Garden

Red Garden.jpg
Red Garden is about three girls living in New York who have learned that their classmate has suddenly died. Some spooky woman tells they that they’re dead as well. It might have been a while ago, but this plot somewhat reminds me of Serial Experiments Lain.

If you listened to Anime Nano Podcast #7, you’ll recall that not one of the three podcasters I wasn’t able to finish watching Lain. Yeah, it’s really crazy. I won’t pass judgement on the anime without seeing it first, but the whole resemblence to Lain is not a good omen.

I watched to promo video. It didn’t really explain anything, but it did feature girls with ugly noses!

Fall 2006 Anime Preview: Part 3

In part 3 of my many-parted Fall 2006 Anime Preview, I take a quick peek at Death Note, D.Gray-man, Tokimeki Memorial, and Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge:

Death Note

death note.jpg
Death Note is the story of a really smart kid, Raito Yagami, who picks up a Shinigami’s notebook. The book enables him to kill whoever he wants by writing their name in the book. Raito uses the book to kill all of the top criminals of the world. L, a super detective, is sent in to stop Raito.

I read and reviewed the Death Note Manga Volume 1 a while ago, so you can check out my impressions here. I really liked the manga, so I’m looking forward to the anime adaptation.

Fall 2006 Anime Preview: Part 2

In part 2 of my Fall 2006 Anime Preview I take a quick peek at Ghost Hunt, Marginal Prince, Busou Renkin, and Kin-Iro no Chord:

Ghost Hunt

Ghost Hunt.jpg
Ghost Hunt is an anime about a guy who has no interest in normal humans. He’s only interested in ghosts. Follow the adventures of Kazuya Shibuya and his indentured servant Mai Taniyama as they investigate ghostly phonomenon!

This anime started out as a manga, and the manga has already been released up to Volume 5 in the United States by Del Rey. I found a preview of the first volume on Del Rey’s website. It seems like this anime will be one part Haruhi Suzumiya and one Part Haruhi Fujioka…

If you want to get in on the Ghost Hunt action before it airs, you can get
Ghost Hunt Manga Volume 1
at Amazon.com. The sneak preview of the manga that I read seemed interesting, so I’ll definitely check this out.

Fall 2006 Anime Preview: Part 1

Is it already time for anime season previews? I guess so! Here’s a quick look at Black Blood Brothers, Silk Road Shounen Yuuto, Gin Iro no Olynsis, and Pumpkin Scissors:

Black Blood Brothers

Black Blood Brothers.jpg

In addition to being an awesome tounge twister, Black Blood Brothers is the first of the Fall 2006 anime that I’ll preview. It appears to be about a sword-brandishing vampire hunter. He looks like the Red Mage from Final Fantasy!

I found a preview video which is oddly in English. Or should I say, Engrish? The animation looks decent, though I did spot a bad CG helicopter. Vampires are cool, so I’ll be keeping an eye out for this anime when it airs later this month.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Vol. 1 – Anime DVD Review

Jojos Bizarre Adventure Vol 1.jpg

As part of my “review more American Anime Time stuff” campaign, I contacted some companies and asked if they could send me anything to review. Super Techno Arts was kind enough to send a copy of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Vol. 1.

Coincidentally, back in the Playstation (1) days there was a fighting game called “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure” that I used to have. I don’t really remember it that well, but it seemed pretty cool. Apparently the game was based on the same manga that this anime was based on.

The uber-high definition raw of Kemono Zume was released recently, and I had a chance to check it out. In my Summer 2006 anime preview, I figured this anime would resemble Blood+. My predictions been totally off this season…

Flag was actually one of the first anime to air for the Summer season. I didn’t see a raw until a while back, and the first episode just got subbed a few days ago. I really didn’t think much of the anime, but I only had a picture to base that opinion on (irony!).

Hanoka – Anime First Impressions

I got super psyched when I saw a bunch of new anime listed on Anidb for August. They’re mostly OVAs, but one extra TV series was added along with Kemono Zume. Seeing the art for Hanoka got me psyched! The psychitude only lasted until I actually started watching the anime, though…

Anime Nano Podcast – 4 Down, X To Go!

Headphones.png

The Anime Nano gang and I just finished our 4th podcast! This one went pretty smoothly, I thought, and it lasted really long. Like twice as long as our previous record! Hinano was absent, but Problematic reluctantly took her place. She did a good job, even if she says she didn’t.
