Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni was actually subbed a while ago, but somehow eluded me until today. I remember noting it as the anime with the picture of the spooky girl from anidb. I don’t think I’ve ever been satisfied with a mystery/drama anime, but I decided to try this one out anyway.
Month: April 2006
I heard about Love Get Chu pretty early on, but since no one subbed it, and virtually no one has blogged about it, I kinda forgot about this anime. So does Love Get Chu push the state of Seiyuu-based anime even further? Or are REC and Puni Puni Poemi as good as it gets?
I was minding my own business at ANN, when I saw a review for a manga called “Chibi Vampire.” But wait, the girl on the cover looks exactly like Karin! Could this be a Karin knockoff!? Upon closer inspection, it appeared that Chibi Vampire is the North American name that Tokyopop has given Karin.
Yume Tsukai was on my Spring 2006 anime preview list, but it kinda fell off the radar due to the huge number of quality shows already out. I finally checked out the first episode. So is this anime as dreamy as the name implies? Is this show a sleeper hit, or a real yawn!? Okay, enough with the puns, onto the post:
When I heard there was an anime called “Black Lagoon” coming out, I figured it would be a horror. Y’know, like the “Creature from the Black Lagoon?” Anyway, I was really surprised when I actually watched the episode.
I hadn’t really heard of Magical Pokan as a new Spring anime, but once I saw some screenshots posted on Matthew’s blog, I wanted to see this anime for myself! Froth-Bite did a sub of it, so here’s my review!
I saw this on krunk4ever and had to share it. I dunno if this is a recent thing or what, but this gif shows what appears to be Naruto heavily lifting some animation cues from a scene in Cowboy Bebop. Looks pretty incriminating to me. Perhaps the animation guys who did Cowboy Bebop were also on the Naruto team and this is just coincidence…

Anime Fanservice – A Double Standard?
Easter Fanservice
While checking out some reviews on some of the new season’s anime, I noticed some conflicting opinions on fanservice. For those not in the know, fanservice generally refers to gratuitous scenes that are only there to please the (mostly male) fans. This includes shower scenes, panty shots, and, in entire episode form, the anime beach episode.
