Blog Suki

Jason, of Anime on My Mind and Anime Blog Toshokan fame, has just rolled out a new and improved version of the latter. It’s called Blog Suki! Chances are, if you read my blog regularly, it’s due to the exposure I get from ABT or Animeblogger.net Antenna. The new and improved Blog Suki is looking really great. If you don’t know about it yet, check it out. There’s a ton of great blogs out there. Things I’ve noticed that are new or improved:

  • Search Feature!
  • Cache Feature (so you can see the past posts of a given blog)
  • Faster Indexing by way of pinging
  • A Series Popularity Size-O-Meter (Mai Otome, anyone?)
  • K2 Theme Prettyness, not that I’m biased toward that particular theme 😉

Overall, the service is looking great. Many thanks go out to Jason for providing anime fans with this awesome resource!

Blood: The Last Vampire – Anime Review

Saya

So I was browsing around the Blockbuster.com anime section (which is extremely weak; mostly pokemon!) and found this anime called Blood: The Last Vampire. The description said it was about this vampire named Saya who had to fight chiropterans. I thought the plot sounded kinda familiar. Apparently, this is the prequel to the TV anime series, Blood+. So that explains the "+" part. I wonder if they’ll make a sequel to that called "Blood++" (nerd joke, right here!)

Kage Kara Mamoru! – Anime First Impressions

Kage Kara Mamoru 01.jpgKage Kara Mamoru 02.jpgKage Kara Mamoru 03.jpgKage Kara Mamoru 04.jpgKage Kara Mamoru 05.jpgKage Kara Mamoru 06.jpgKage Kara Mamoru 07.jpgKage Kara Mamoru 08.jpgKage Kara Mamoru 09.jpg

Kage Kara Mamoru got my vote for most anticipated anime of the Winter 2006 season. Why? Ninjas. Yep, Kage Kara Mamoru has ninjas, which automatically makes it awesomer than all other shows. Or does it?

Lemon Angel Project – Anime First Impressions

Lemon Angel Project 01.jpgLemon Angel Project 02.jpgLemon Angel Project 03.jpgLemon Angel Project 04.jpgLemon Angel Project 05.jpgLemon Angel Project 06.jpgLemon Angel Project 07.jpgLemon Angel Project 08.jpgLemon Angel Project 09.jpg

Lemon Angel Project is a new Winter 2006 anime that didn’t really get that much press. I thought the character designs looked pretty good, and I was looking forward to watching it. I figured it might be like another anime, Wandaba Style, which was pretty cool. Days came and went, and it seemed no one was going to sub this anime. Finally MahouSekai-Fansubs decided to give it a go. Was it worth the wait?

Ayakashi~ Japanese Classic Horror – Anime First Impressions

Ayakashi Japanese Classic Horror 01.jpgAyakashi Japanese Classic Horror 02.jpgAyakashi Japanese Classic Horror 03.jpgAyakashi Japanese Classic Horror 04.jpgAyakashi Japanese Classic Horror 05.jpgAyakashi Japanese Classic Horror 06.jpgAyakashi Japanese Classic Horror 07.jpgAyakashi Japanese Classic Horror 08.jpgAyakashi Japanese Classic Horror 09.jpg

So after watching Jigoku Shoujo, I figured the Japanese idea of "horror" is probably a lot different from my idea of it. Some parts of Jigoku Shoujo were actually pretty funny, so I expected to either be scared during this anime or laugh at it. Did I do either? You know the drill, read on to find out!

Poll of the semi-week: How should Hantsuki be resolved?

Hantsuki Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora 54.jpg

First off, the results of the last poll, Anime Fillers: Yay or nay?

Yay – as long as something meaningful happens 60% ( 3 )
Yay – I watch every episode! 40% ( 2 )
Nay – fillers are junk 0% 0% ( 0 )

Wow, apparently you guys really like fillers. I guess since the people in the forum are really hardcore about anime, this wasn’t too surprising of an outcome. We still need more people over there though! Join in on the fun!

Okay, so here’s the new poll for the semi-week. If you watched
Hantsuki, or read my review, you’re quite aware that Rika could die!

Here’s a poll for you guys: What kind of ending should Hantsuki have?
Now, I dunno if Hantsuki the manga has already answered this, so
please, no spoilers!!! Please! Anyway, vote on how you think the anime
should end.

I personally think Rika should die and Yuuichi should live. I mean,
it’d be such a cop-out if she lives after the whole setup of her being
weak and soon to die, y’know? Call me evil, but this would be the best
ending. I know she’s mad at me for writing that. Just look at her

Go over to the anime forums and cast your vote

Gyagu Manga Biyori – Anime First Impressions

Gyagu Manga Biyori 01.jpgGyagu Manga Biyori 02.jpgGyagu Manga Biyori 03.jpgGyagu Manga Biyori 04.jpgGyagu Manga Biyori 05.jpgGyagu Manga Biyori 06.jpg

Gyagu Manga Biyori is an anime that actually came out February 2005. Back then, I had read about it and was hoping it would get subbed, because I dig the gag manga anime genre. Hits like "Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugoiyo!! Masarusan" and "Boboboubo Boubobo" have a special place in my heart. Did this gag anime live up to my strict expectations? Read on to find out:

Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora (Hantsuki) – Anime First Impressions

Hantsuki Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora 01.jpgHantsuki Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora 02.jpgHantsuki Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora 03.jpgHantsuki Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora 04.jpgHantsuki Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora 05.jpgHantsuki Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora 06.jpgHantsuki Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora 07.jpgHantsuki Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora 08.jpgHantsuki Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora 09.jpg

In my Winter 2006 anime preview, I noted that this would probably be one of the more dramatic anime of the season. Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora (let’s call it Hantsuki for short) is a love story about two star-crossed (maybe) lovers. Ok, so it’s dramatic, but does that make it good? Read on to find out!

Yotsubato! (Yotsuba&) Manga Preview/Review

Yotsubato 1 Cover.jpg

What? Me do manga? To be honest, I’ve never really been into manga that much. I did have my eye on Yotsuba&! though. I mean, it’s by the same mangaka who did Azumanga Daioh, Kiyohiko Azuma, and we all know how awesome that show was! After getting a recommendation from Os in the forums, I decided to check it out.
