Spring 2007 Anime Preview: Part 4

This is the fourth and final part of my Spring 2007 anime preview. In it, I take a peek at Terra e…, Romeo x Juliet, Lovely Complex, Lucky Star and Kaze no Stigma.

Terra e… (To Terra)

Terra e (or To Terra, or Towards the Terra) is a classic manga that was just recently released by Vertical Inc. They probably couldn’t have timed it better since the anime will surely spark interest in the manga too.

It looks like Terra e will be an old school sci-fi action anime. Hopefully there’ll be some new school hotness added too. The story has to do with psychic kids and the dream to return… to Terra. I’ll probably watch this because I’ll be reading the manga anyway. Plus the website’s graphics look way slick.

Romeo x Juliet

Romeo x Juliet? Is that like Romeo & Juliet? To be honest, I’m kind of a Shakespeare fanboy. Like I once ordered Hamlet as an amazon.com filler. Plus I like trying to use Shakespeare quotes in everyday situations to confuse people who aren’t literate. The lady doth protest too much, methinks!

The cool part about this anime is that I already remember what happens in Romeo & Juliet, so I can probably watch it raw without too many problems. I’ll just have to listen for romanizations of “Montague” and “Capulet.” Also, everyone dies at the end. OMG SPOILER!

Lovely Complex

Lovely Complex (or Rabu Kon) looks like it’s going to be a heartwarming story of a couple of class clowns who eventually fall in love with each other. Like they’re always fighting, except it means they like each other!

I’m kind of a sap when it comes to these kind of stories so I’ll definitely watch.

But what the heck is a “Lovely Complex” anyway? Is it like a lolita complex, except you like people who are lovely? Would that even be considered a complex?

Lucky Star

Lucky Star is a pointless 4-koma manga. I think it’s probably comparable to something like Azumanga Daioh in terms of actual plot. The notable thing about Lucky Star is that it’s being animated by Kyoto Animation, the studio that did Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu and Kanon. I wonder if they’ll have a character who resembles Kyon/Yuuichi…

The character designs remind me of Mahoraba, which is a good thing. I actually like anime that don’t have much of a plot besides funny situations, so I’ll give Lucky Star a shot. I might even try reading the manga to get a head start.

Kaze no Stigma

I have about zero information on this, besides that this anime is based on a Light Novel. And it features a red-haired girl with a fiery sword. Shana!?

I may or may not watch this, depending on future info about the anime and/or other people’s reviews.

There is an old anime movie called Towards the Terra that might be based on the manga, not sure on that though… The story is about psychic kids as you say. I’m so going to watch it ^^

I’m definitely looking forward to Toward the Terra. I reviewed the movie (http://ktkore.hitori-janai.net/?p=285) not too long ago since the announcement of the TV series made me aware of it and I enjoyed it. It should be interesting to see how it goes in TV series form.

Romeo x Juliet sounds like good times. I saw the trailer last month or so and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be your traditional Romeo and Juliet story. It looks like they’re adding some fantasy elements to it, so it might be a whole lot different than Shakespeare’s version, which probably is a good thing as everyone already knows the deal with Romeo and Juliet already.

I don’t have much to say about Lovely Complex but it sounds like something I could enjoy. I like romance stories without all the harem or fanservice BS, so I’ll definitely give this a shot.

Lucky Star could be brainless fun, but I can’t say I’m interested much right now.

Someone on the AnimeSuki forums had a very rough synopsis of Kaze no Stigma. About some guy who gets kicked out of his fire clan, goes back to Japan with the power to control wind but now he’s a suspect in a murder mystery. Can’t say I’m interested in this much right now, either.

Looking forward to lovelt complex. The manga and live action are so CUUTE and Risa and Otani are always fighting because they have a complex about their heights coz Risa is 170cm (Tall) and Otani is 159cm (SHORT).

Also looking forward to Terra e

Just a word of warning the Lucky Star manga has no furigana, I dunno maybe you’d be fine with it but I bought it recently and I’m way over my head.

Thank goodness! Someone watching Lovely Complex and Lucky Star too. I liked what you think of the animes this spring.
