Galaxy Angel Vol. 5 – Manga Review

Galaxy Angel 5 is the last in the Galaxy Angel manga series. Technically. There’s actually a continuation called Galaxy Angel Beta that I’ll be reviewing next. Which means that Galaxy Angel 5 doesn’t really resolve anything…

Wait, is this a Galaxy Angel hentai doujinshi!?

Story:
When everything is looking pretty bleak, the Moon Goddess tells Prince Shiva to go to the White Moon. Another pilot, Chitose, is also introduced. A side story features some inappropriate looking “space worms.”

At the end of the volume, we’re left with a cliffhanger. The The Angel-tai must win the war so they can have a picnic together! Now those are some high stakes!

Analysis:
This volume has a lot of character development, and also some plot stuff! There’s glimpses of Milfeulle’s past (where she keeps having good luck, pissing off the other kids), and Vanilla finally gets some attention, too. Vanilla is like the Nagato Yuki of Galaxy Angel, which means that she’s probably my favorite character. I think the only character that Takuto didn’t really have much time with was Forte. But she kind of weirds me out (I originally thought she was a dude) so that’s ok.

Takuto even scores with Prince Shiva, getting a kiss! Shotacon! I actually have a feeling that Prince Shiva is a girl. At least, I hope so. The cow from volume 1 also makes an appearance, which is totally awesome.

Overall, it was a good volume, but I really wish something would’ve happened in it. Like we keep on getting teased about Takuto and Milfeulle’s relationship, and it’s starting to get old. Hopefully they’ll resolve things in Galaxy Angel Beta, which I’ll start reading now that I’m finished with this manga series.

Many thanks to Broccoli Books for sending me a review copy of Galaxy Angel Volume 5!

Yes, Shiva is indeed a girl crossdressing for political reasons. You only learn this if you get all her CGs, though, or if you just skip to the second game.

GA manga is messing with my head. For one thing, Eonia is supposed to blow up with the black moon long before you even meet Chitose.

It’s been a nice series overall (I’ve finished Galaxy Angel Beta, which ends this specific storyling). Very fluffy when there’s no drama, and then interesting when there is.
