Summer 2006 Anime Preview! The Third!

Do the Summer 2006 Anime Preview ever stop? I hope not. Here’s the third of the anime preview trilogy (which might have more than three parts!):

Kemono Zume

Kemono Zume is the tale of two star-crossed lovers; A monster, and a monster hunter. Such cruel fate! It’s like Romeo and Juliet, except with swords and claws! So far, all we have to look at is a picture that reminds me of a reverse Blood+. Still, this anime looks promising. The artwork looks sweet, so I’ll watch at least the first episode.

Le Chevalier D`Eon

Le Chevalier D`Eon already sports one fatal flaw: I can’t pronounce its name. Besides that, it’s about some crossdressing dude during the French Revolution. Already, this anime reminds me of Glass no Kantai, except not in space… I don’t think I’ll be watching this one.

Zero no Tsukaima

Zero no Tsukaima looks to me like an anime version of Harry Potter, especially after watching the trailer. It sounds fairly generic; guy gets summoned to another world, makes a contract with a female wizard by kissing… Character designs look pretty good, though. This anime looks like win for now.

Coyote Ragtime Show

I think I remember seeing the Coyote Ragtime Show the last time I went to Disneyland… Anyway, despite the funky name, this anime is already looking pretty cool. The translation of the plot that I found makes no sense whatsoever, but the trailer is sweet! This anime is giving me, dare I say it, Cowboy Bebop vibes… The animation looks very high quality. Cowboy… I mean, Coyote Ragtime show is high on my priority list for the Summer 2006 anime season.

Le Chevalier D`Eon was a famous military cross dresser whose gender was up for bets on the London exchange. Suffice to say D’Eon was so convincing that he fooled the French government into believing that he was a woman (Louis XVI even gave him a new wardrobe). Suffice to say fortunes were lost when the autopsy revealed that he was indeed anatomically a male. I also highly doubt fiction can trump fact.

Interesting. Coyote and Chevalier look like the two better shows. I normally don’t care about previews because 90% of it is inaccurate or too subjective. I’ll just watch the first ep of everything.

I’m definitely looking forward to Kemono Zume, Zero no Tsukaima, and Coyote Ragtime Show. With that said, I’ll probably end up just watching the first episode of the new shows as well. It’s like reading a movie review – you can either rely on the critic to judge the movie for you or just go and watch it for yourself. I really do appreciate you for taking the time to write your preview summaries, though. 🙂

Well, as an anime blogger, (and a fan of anime in general) I pretty much have to watch every new show too. But that doesn’t mean I can’t try and guess which ones will be good or bad.

Basically, it’s just fun to see how my initial impressions pan out against my final ones.

[…] “Kemonozume Sakaba” – Madhouse The story doesn’t sound too original but I’m interested anyway. I agree with Hung when he says it reminds him of some sort of twisted Romeo and Juliet story. But I’m a sucker for those types of stories and so it’s hard for me not to be interested in this. Essentially it’s about a monster woman who’s in love with a monster-hunting man and vise-versa. I’ve seen them go wrong but many have gone right. Let’s hope this one goes right. […]
