Muteki Kanban Musume translates to “Invincible Pretty Daughter Who Attracts Boys To Parents’ Shop!” So seriously, how could I resist watching this anime? The manga version was translated and released in the US as “Noodle Fighter Miki,” so maybe I should refer to it as that. Here’s my impression of the anime’s first episode:
Onimaru Miki is the daughter of Makiko, who owns a ramen shop. Her job is to be hot and attract customers. She’s not really good at doing this, however… She spills food on a customer, and when a fight occurs outside the shop, she suggests taking it inside! She’s also bad as a delivery girl, feeding the food to stray dogs and using the bowls as a catcher’s mitt.
Miki is an exceptional fighter, but unfortunately, her mom is better. That’s not to say that Miki isn’t a nice gal; she brings home needy kittens, old people, and children!
When she’s not screwing things up at her mom’s ramen place, she’s fighting her arch nemesis, Kannazuki Megumi. Megumi works at a bakery across the street, and as we all know, bread and ramen do not mix! In the first episode, they have a battle to see who can attract the most customers to their stores (I think).
If you’re looking for an anime with a plot, you should probably look elsewhere. For what it is, though, Muteki Kanban Musume is pretty good. It’s just a fun, mindless anime.
One thing I noticed about this anime was that the character designs were really different from the original manga. The manga looked really cartoony, whereas the anime is more realistic.
As far as the actual designs go, Miki and Megumi are equally hot. Miki is the super hyper genki girl, a la Excel from Excel Saga. Megumi is the ojou type with the “o ho ho ho ho ho!” laugh. The neighbor, Oota Akihiko, fills the role of the straight man. I think he’s an otaku, too. Miki’s mom is the token obaa-san, and strangely, she has no nose.
The animation quality for this first episode was fairly average. The fighting sequence between Miki and her mom was cool. There’ll probably be more fighting in future episodes, so I’ll have to watch out for that.
I really love the changes in expressions that the characters go through. Facial expressions are kind of my weak point with anime, so when they use a lot of them, I generally approve. Miki goes from happy to sad to insane without warning, which is totally awesome! For me, this makes the anime fun to watch.
The OP song and sequence make the anime to be some kind of post-apocalyptic battle show. Nice parody! The ED is more down to earth (read: boring).

Muteki Kanban Musume makes to attempt to tell a serious story. Any backstory just serves to set up a gag. If you’re looking for a serious food fighting anime (do those exist?), this is probably not for you. I tend to like the stupid gag anime, though, so I’ll probably keep watching this.

You know where this anime stands when Miki definitely throws the needle towards Megumi and it still ends up in the wrong spot. lolol It also sounds like the two main seiyuus (Hitomi Nabatame as Miki and Ami Koshimizu as Megumi) are having a lot of fun. Too bad I need to wait for a fansub to understand the whole thing. 🙁
I laughed out loud a number of times. Good versions of old jokes, with great comic timing. I thought Koshimizu Ami was terrific as the voice of Megumi. And the fights between Miki and her noseless mother were classic.
This might be a good thing to watch..
Food Fight theme where there’s more to the fight than the food itself..
Nice replacement after the end for Yakitate! Japan..
Thanks for the intro music, this anime made me giggle, it’s amazingly silly and their faces are mad! ^_^
When I first saw this anime available as a fan-subbed torrent I wasn’t sure what it was about, but the title caught my attention so I downloaded it. Turns out it’s actually a very funny anime. At first I was totally weirded out by the opening, but as I kept on watching I just got hooked on this anime. By the time you read this, I just got done watching ep 9. You can go to animesuki or any other bit torrent site you like to download these.
Enjoy it!

This series was my vote for best comedy/action anime of 2006–hands down. Too bad that the series ended.
this series is great, I highly reccomend watching it. though a more accurate translation would’ve been “Invincible signboard (or poster) daughter”, since that what they do, just sums up what you said in one word
