Black Jack Infection (Vol. 1) – Anime DVD Review

black-jack-infection.jpg

Black Jack is yet another famous manga turned anime from the one and only Osamu Tezuka. This dude is seriously some kind of genius! I don’t think he’s ever let me down before. So does Black Jack continue the awesomeness streak or is it totally lame?

One thing I’ve never really taken a look at is OEL manga. I guess there’s a million names for it now, including global manga, amerimanga, etc. I finally got to read Aoi House, a harem comedy set in an anime club.

Disgaea – Manga Review

disgaea-manga.jpg

I’m kind of a Disgaea maniac. I played the original PS2 Disgaea for like, 90 or so hours before stopping. I’ve also clocked quite a few hours on the sequel, Disgaea 2. I also went on a buying spree last year when I got some Disgaea figures and a prinny plushie. Then there was the Disgaea calendar I got, too. Funimation Anime Now Available on iTunes

funimation-itunes.jpg

Apparently, Funimation has added some of their anime titles to the Apple iTunes store. Right now, you can download episodes of Desert Punk, Samurai 7, and Speed Grapher.

The anime is available only in the English dub version, and they’re 640×360. I took a look at a few of the previews of the shows. Assuming the the quality of the previews are the same as the actual downloaded episodes, they look pretty good.

Individual episodes cost like $2 and a season pass costs about $39. Not way too bad, considering that most single DVDs are $30 retail. Then again, you don’t get Japanese audio tracks, extras, or an actual physical product….

Now, if companies can figure out how to synchronize releases with the Japanese airings and provide high quality dubbed episodes, I’d be all for that. Maybe throw in a coupon or voucher for the DVDs when they come out and you’ve got a winning business plan!
