Story:
The first part of the second volume dishes out some random encounters. First, the Angel-tai help out a ship full of kids and one old guy. No, he’s not the luckiest lolicon ever, he’s the only adult to survive the destruction of their planet along with all of the planet’s children. Okay, so maybe he is the luckiest lolicon ever…

The next mission is just a filler with the Angel-tai visiting a hot spring. Ranpha tries to find a secret hot spring that will show her a destined lover. Takuto tries to peep, and ends up drawing the wrath of Ranpha.

The last few chapters are pretty intense, at least for Galaxy Angel standards. Milfeulle and Ranpha fall for a trap (no, a real trap!) and end up taken hostage by the Eonia forces. Takuto has to rescue them, and ends up getting into deeper trouble. Everything ends up okay though, after Takuto improvises.

Analysis:
So I kinda dissed the first volume for being kind of boring. Luckily, the second volume is a lot better. The art is great as usual, and the story was a lot funnier this time, too. I guess the mangaka is starting to get the hang of things. No cow, though. I guess they ate it. T_T

There’s also some relational tension happening between Ranpha and Tokito. It’s pretty amusing, I guess. Ranpha is a pretty typical tsundere though. She’s all mean to Tokito right now, but I’m sure she’ll warm up to him later.

There’s also a bunch of extra stuff at the end of the book. Like 4koma galore! And they’re all pretty funny too! They’re nice extras and I’m really glad they decided to include them. One also explains why we don’t see characters from the anime version like Nomad (copyright issues).

Conclusion:
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this volume of Galaxy Angel. It seems like the story is finally beginning to pick up and the characters are starting to become more developed.

Many thanks to Broccoli Books for providing me with a review copy of Galaxy Angel Volume 2. You can get more info on the Galaxy Angel manga at their official site.
