Fall 2006 Anime Preview: Part 6

Part 6 of my week long Fall 2006 Anime Preview is upon us! I check out Kanon, Happiness!, Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch and Ayakashiayashi.

Kanon

Kanon was one of the first anime that I had ever seen. When I think of it, I want to eat taiyaki and go sit sadly in the snow. But we don’t get snow here in New Mexico.

While the plot of the original seemed kind of erratic, I have a feeling that Kyoto Animation will do a kickass job on this anime. This is a must-see as far as I’m concerned.

Happiness!

An anime about Happiness? If news of the KimiNozo remake has you going into emo mode, maybe this anime will brighten your spirits. Until you the next sentence. This anime yet another game to anime conversion.

This anime seems to fall under the magical girl genre as well, so be prepared for transformation and annoyingly cute sidekicks. The character designs all look pretty cute, so I might give this one a shot.

Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch

Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch is a mecha anime. But it’s done by CLAMP! I’m so confused! CLAMP usually writes more girly stuff like Chobits and XXXHoliC and Card Captor Sakura, so yeah, I dunno.

This video shows that the mecha will be non-cg, and the animation actually looks pretty good, so I’ll be checking this out.

Tempouibun Ayakashiayashi

Tempouibun Ayakashiayashi is about a group of warriors called the Ayakashi whose job is to destroy the Yoi (yaoi?) threat to Edo. Apparently they’re weird. One guy has lost his memory (which isn’t too strange considering about half of all anime protagonists suffer from this). There’s also a girl who crossdresses.

I’m that all that into period pieces, but at least that means the likelyhood of ninjas is higher than most anime! I’ll give it a chance and see how the animation is.
