決 The Best Anime of Spring 2006!

haruhixharuhi.jpg

That’s right, after a whopping 834 votes were tallied, the best anime of the Spring 2006 season has been decided! It was a close battle, but a true victor finally emerged!

Was it the preseason favorite, School Rumble? Or was it everyone’s favorite god show, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya? Would it have been possible for the Ouran High School Fight Club to win? Did the killer lolis murder the competition?

Oh snap, it’s Ouran High School Host Club for the win! But hey, it was a close race. How close?

Ouran High School Host Club: 243 votes
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu: 240 votes
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: 91 votes

There was only a difference of 3 votes. If Basugasubakuhatsu Anime Blog was running on an Electoral College, Suzumiya might have won. But no, the will of the people has been decided! Ouran High School Host Club’s cuisine reigns supreme! See, kids, your votes do matter!

Now that we’re finished with the anime of Spring 2006, let’s move on to the Summer 2006 anime season. New poll = Which Summer 2006 anime are you looking forward to most? I put them all on (besides the moves and ovas), so no excuses this time. It’s a no-holds barred match, anime a anime!

Haruhi Jujioka is far superior.

Ha ha, is that typo supposed to be some sort of anti-semitic slur?

“Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu? More like Suzumiya Haruhi no JEWutsu!”

Gayness wins (only by 3 votes). I bet that 91% of votes was from girls :p
Long live gayness!!! (wait a min, that sounds so wrong… long live gay bashing!!! lol)
I also think the Haruhi fanboy will want a recount (or cry out of someone doing vote rigging 🙂 )

But yeah I also wanted a less popular anime to do well, good thing Higurashi is 3rd even if it is not really aim at fangirls (unlike say Ouran :p).

Where is all the hyped anime in the poll before the Spring 2006 season? where is School Rumble 2? BL? xxxHOLIC?

It will be good to see which Summer 2006 anime ppl are looking for, then see if it still their fav after, for this poll: I’ll be looking for under looked anime again….

P.S I dont like all this overpimping of Ouran, it’s just makes all you sound really those fangirls…

I’m probably the only person who voted for ‘Saiunkoku Monogatari’ as the best show of the season, but I can also see why Ouran was voted the best. It’s definitely a favorite of mine now that I’ve caught up with all the episodes. 🙂

I think it’s like 90% of the people who watch ouran are girls or something. And the rest are us…

Fujioka Haruhi > Suzumiya Haruhi (man is that show OVERRATED!)

BONES does quality work what can ya say… It’s funny, over-the-top, and a little heart-warming – all with a cast of characters that aren’t afraid to poke fun of themselves or their situations.

I can’t say I’m surprised, but I think the rebuttal of Suzumiya Haruhi is rather uncalled for, since it is a good anime but unfairly overhyped.

Incidentally, I voted for School Rumble and I stand by my vote. Underdogs forevar ^_^

Haruhi overhyped? Uhm, it’s a show that wasn’t even on the radar. The “hype” comes solely from the word of mouth. Which is the best recommendation something can get.

Both Haruhi and Ouran are specialty series that don’t appeal to mainstream so it’s hardly a surprise people are divided. For me, personally, Ouran is the one that has less appeal. Haruhi is just so well done. It’s not an amazing show (compared to best of the best), but it shows what can you get when you take a good premise and polish it to greatness by animators, storywriters, choice of music etc. Craftmanship shows in every frame and many little details.

The biggest problem with Ouran is that the lead character (if the girl dressing like a boy is one, that is) is completely flat. We know next to nothing about her/him after 13 episodes. I can’t recall any series of this quality that had a lead so flat. That’s another reason to rate Ouran lower. You might hate Haruhi Suzumiya the character – and who wouldn’t? – but you can’t deny her presence on screen.
