Top 5 Anime EDs of Spring 2006!

For every to there is a fro, and for every stop there is a go. Likewise, for every OP there is an ED (except for, y’know, weird anime that don’t have an ED), so here’s my picks for the top 5 anime EDs for Spring 2006:

For every to there is a fro, and for every stop there is a go. Likewise, for every OP there is an ED (except for, y’know, weird anime that don’t have an ED), so here’s my picks for the top 5 anime EDs for Spring 2006:

5. Tokito Ami: Kono Namida ga Arukara Tsugi no Ippo to Naru

sentimental generation.jpgHey, School Rumble gets the #5 spot for both the OP and ED list! Coincidence? Probably. Besides having a really long name, this song is also very guitary. It isn’t the best ED ever, but it’ll do. I also feel obliged to mention that it’s sung by a cute meganekko, Tokito Ami!

You can download the TV Size ED here, or get the single (which also includes the OP) at YesAsia.com.

4. Hirano Aya, Chibara Minori and Goto Moeko: Hare Hare Yukai

hare-hare-yukai.jpgEveryone’s favorite song to parody comes in at #4. While the sequence itself is a blast to watch, the song by itself isn’t as good. A lot of the charm comes from seeing the dancing animation, so that’s lost when listening to the ED by itself. It’s still one of the better anime EDs this season.

3. eufonius: Guruguru

himawari.jpgThe Himawari ED is sung by eufonius, which almost guarantees its goodness. This song is mellow in a marchy kinda way. The vocals are really cute, too. Eufonius has a really unique way of singing, so for that, I give this ED the #3 spot.

You can download the TV Size ED here, or get the single at YesAsia.com.

2. Mamiko Noto: Ashita no Te

witchblade.jpgThere’s something to be said about music that isn’t all 100% up in your face. The Witchblade anime’s ED is a nice mellow tune. The smooth vocals along with the bass and drums make for a really nice feel. I might keep watching Witchblade just for the ED!

1. LAST ALLIANCE: Shissou

shissou.jpgI didn’t really like the Ouran High School Host Club ED when I first heard it, but it’s grown on me. Maybe it’s from hearing the ED over and over again, or perhaps it’s because the ED is actually good…

You can download the TV Size ED here, or get the single at CDJapan.

Higurashi no naku koro ni won the last poll with 27% of the vote, so be sure and vote to represent the ED of your choice. If you don’t see your favorite ED in the choices, leave a comment and maybe I’ll add it to the poll.

Needs more Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni ED.

It is way, way better than all of the other EDs this season.

Hmmm. I don’t really like the Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni ED. Are you sure you like the song itself, and aren’t being swayed by the anime’s goodness?

Mostly the Engrish that I (and fansubbers) can’t understand bugs me. But okay, let’s see who else likes it. On the poll it goes.

Hey you missed out Girls’ High’s ED, incl. This song has even my non-anime loving friends loading it into their playlists. Plus the ED sequence is aesthetically better than Haruhi’s.

I personally disagree with all your choices but Shissou. The other four I skip straightaway.

Yay, Shissou is my favourite of the season, followed by the SR ED and the Kamisama ED. Likewise, I’m not really a fan of the Higurashi ED; it just sounds like any other standard ending theme. As for Haruhi’s ED, well, as you say I think it’s rather dull when divorced from the animation, and even that has lost its lustre now.

Personally, I dislike most OP’s and ED’s. Prolly because I’ve never been able to develop a taste for j-pop. Which is also prolly why I really enjoy the ED to Black Lagoon (what there is of it anyway). No vocals, just a peaceful yet weary sounding synthesizer tune with some drums at the end. Also like how the episode fades into it.

Although I think Hare Hare Yukai should be up higher simply because of the accompanying dance routine, I am a huge fan of J-Rock, and so I entirely support your support of Shissou

Godly
